Salute to veterans event on Saturday
The Delaware Valley Veterans Nursing Home, 2701 Southampton Road, will host an Armed Forces Day celebration on Saturday, May 19, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Beef-and-beer fundraiser at Cannstatter’s
A beef-and-beer fundraiser will take place on Saturday, May 19, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Cannstatter’s, 9130 Academy Road.
Proceeds will benefit Erin Gallagher’s fight against brain cancer. Tickets cost $35 and include food, drinks, basket raffles, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.

Learn about mold and flooding
A workshop, Breathing Easy in a Changing Climate, will take place on Tuesday, May 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3101 Tyson Ave.
The workshop will address flooding and mold in the home. The project is led by the Clean Air Council, Drexel University, Energy Coordinating Agency, Liberty Lutheran, the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium and the city Department of Public Health.

Train show on Saturday
The nonprofit Train Collectors Association Atlantic Division will hold its Toy Train Show and Sale on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall, 1301 S. Columbus Blvd.
The show will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $5 per attendee, or per family of two adults and all children under 12 years old. Free parking is available. There will be operating toy train layouts, along with a vintage toy trains and repair parts for sale.

North alums heading to AC
The Northeast Catholic Alumni Association will hold a trip on Monday, Aug. 6.

Houseman hosting camp
Houseman Recreation Center, 5091 Summerdale Ave. (at Godfrey Avenue), will host a summer camp from June 18 to Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The camp is for kids ages 5–12.
There will be a mandatory meeting for parents on June 14 at 6 p.m.
There is a $25 registration fee. The eight-week camp costs $600. Before- and after-care is available for an additional $30 per week.
The camp will feature swimming, arts and crafts, reading literacy, sports, two trips weekly, dance, exercise, breakfast and lunch.

Free VIN etching available on Saturday
The Philadelphia Police Department major crimes auto squad will sponsor a vehicle identification number etching on Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Yellow parking lot at Philadelphia Mills.
The VIN is etched onto a car window and windshield to reduce the value of a stolen vehicle to thieves.
