The annual Mayfair May Fair will take place on Saturday, May 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will be held rain or shine. It is coordinated by the Mayfair Civic Association, Business Association, Community Development Corporation and Business Improvement District.
The day will include the Mayfair Fallen Heroes Run (mayfairrun.com or [email protected]) and various activities along Frankford Avenue, from Cottman Avenue to Bleigh Avenue.
The Fallen Heroes Run will be held in memory of Daniel Sweeney, a 25-year-old six-year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department who died in April 2012 while battling a five-alarm inferno at an abandoned East Kensington warehouse.
Registration will run from 7:15 to 8:10 a.m. at Mayfair Memorial Playground, at Rowland Avenue and Vista Street. The 5k run and walk will start at 8:30.
Other activities generally start at noon.
There will be live music by Jamison, a Grey Lodge Pub beer garden, food trucks, crafters, Philly Soft Pretzel Factory Customer Appreciation Day, 15th Police District Advisory Council information tables and milkweed planting with the Abraham Lincoln High School horticultural society and the Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion. ••
