Police investigate fatal Lawndale crash

Police are still trying to learn what caused the driver to lose control.

Police are still investigating a fatal multi-car crash in Lawndale that left two people dead. On May 10, a car being driven by a 51-year-old female lost control at a high rate of speed, killing the driver on the scene and causing the 54-year-old passenger to succumb to injuries later.

They were driving in a red 2003 Mercury on 1300 Hellerman St. when they lost control, crashing through a fence and striking two cars along the way.

They crashed into a tree, which fell on the car, killing the driver.

The investigation is still ongoing with the Accident Investigation Division. ••
