Employee chases Mayfair robbery suspect away

A Sunoco employee chased a suspect away after a failed robbery attempt.

Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob the Sunoco Station at 7401 Frankford Ave. after indicating he was armed to an employee.

The man entered the station at approximately 6:44 p.m. on June 20. He placed his right hand over his pocket to imply that he was armed with a weapon and demanded the employee open the cash register.

The employee came from behind the register and a struggle ensued outside of the station. The suspect was chased away by the employee and was last seen fleeing on the 4000 block of Bleigh Avenue.

Nothing was taken during the incident.

Police describe the would-be robber as a black male, 25–29 years old, standing 6 feet 2 and weighing 165–170 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing and a black hat.
