Lawncrest Pool is the first public pool to open for the summer in Philadelphia.

The sound of the lifeguard whistle being blown by Mayor Jim Kenney at Lawncrest Recreation Center on June 19 officially began the opening of the 2018 Philadelphia public pool season.
A large group of kids from the area patiently awaited the news conference held by Kenney, City Councilwoman Cherelle Parker and Kathryn Ott Lovell, commissioner of the city Department of Parks & Recreation.

The city will have its 70-plus public pools open within the next two weeks. The list of when each pool is open is available here.••
