The Block Gives Back cleaned up Nicetown Park.
Pitching in: The Block Gives Back spent Saturday cleaning up Nicetown Park, 4301 Germantown Ave. The volunteers removed debris, pulled weeds, painted benches and filled ditches. Upcoming events include feeding the homeless and cleaning Carmella Playground, at Torresdale Avenue and Wakeling Street in Frankford. On Aug. 4, the group will hold a Peace and Play Day at Carmella, starting at 11 a.m. The day will include dodgeball, volleyball, water balloon fights, live entertainment and a disc jockey.
