Help in the heat is available

The city Department of Public Health has declared a heat health emergency.

The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s Heatline will be activated through Wednesday, July 4.

The telephone number is 215–765–9040. Trained staff will answer the phone until midnight on Monday, July 2. The line is open Tuesday, July 3, from 8:30 a.m. to midnight and Wednesday, July 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The city Department of Public Health has declared a heat health emergency, and PCA officials can recommend air-conditioned locations. Health department nurses are assigned to go to PCA to address calls that indicate a serious health issue.

The line is open to callers of all ages, and questions and concerns can be reported about family members or neighbors. ••
