Crime Log: June 25 – July 8

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were five robberies. A department store at 2300 Cottman Ave. was targeted June 28, and resulted in the arrest of Sami Youssouf, 31. Another department store at 6300 Oxford Ave. was targeted July 6. A mini market at 6900 Castor Ave. was robbed July 4 and resulted in the arrest of Robert Rodriguez, 26, two days later. There were also robberies of a vehicle involving a handgun at 600 Benner St. on July 8 and on the street of 700 Smylie Road June 29.

There were 16 aggravated assaults, most of which took place on the street. These took place at 2300 Cottman Ave. (July 3), 6500 Everett Ave. (June 26), 6800 Frontenac St. (July 1), 2600 Cottman Ave. (July 3), Front Street and Roosevelt Boulevard (July 3), all of which involved handguns; 700 Adams Ave. (June 25), 1400 Stevens St. (July 2), 6100 Oxford Ave. (July 2), all of which involved knives; and 7900 Bustleton Ave. (July 1), three assaults at 1300 Tyson Ave. (July 3), which saw Kevin Smith, 42, arrested, and 1500 Cottman Ave. (June 27), which saw the arrest of Steve Bolstridge, 39. An assault on the street at 800 Levick St. on July 5 saw the arrests of Micki Alvarado, 47, and Rodney Bell, 41. There were also assaults at public housing at 6000 Dorcas Terrace on July 6 and a doctor’s office at 2100 Cottman Ave. on June 30.

There were six burglaries, most of which targeted private residences. These took place at 1400 Magee Ave. (June 25), 7200 Large St. (July 6), 900 Scattergood St. (July 8) and 500 Anchor St. (July 8). An apartment house at 6000 Castor Ave. was burglarized July 1 and a commercial garage at 7600 Castor Ave. was burglarized June 26.

There were 77 thefts, which targeted 36 vehicles (including two stolen vehicle tags), 24 businesses, 10 street thefts, two bicycles, a private residence, an apartment house, a hotel, a church and a nursing home. At least 33 were thefts of $200 or more. Six arrests were made. In addition, eight vehicles were reported stolen, four of which were recovered. One arrest was made.

7th Police District

The only robberies occurred on the street at 11700 Bustleton Ave. on July 5 and involved a knife, and 8100 Castor Ave. on July 7 without a weapon.

The five aggravated assaults yielded four arrests. Christian Crespo, 35, was arrested July 7 after an assault involving a handgun in the street of 2000 Grant Ave.; Quoc H. Le, 19, was arrested July 1 following a domestic assault at the corner of Red Lion Road and Jamison Avenue; Shawn Hall, 40, was arrested July 3 after a domestic assault at an apartment house at 500 Foster St.; and Neal Scott, 46, was arrested July 7 following a domestic assault at an apartment house at 1800 Welsh Road. The fifth assault happened on the street of 500 Tomlinson Road July 8.

There were six burglaries that mostly targeted private residences or apartment houses. These took place at 10100 Bridle Road (June 28), 2100 Grant Ave. (June 29), 1800 Welsh Road (June 30), an attempt at 600 Red Lion Road (June 27) and an attempt at 1700 Tustin Ave. (July 1). There was also a burglary at an unspecified location at 12000 Roosevelt Blvd. June 29.

There were 30 thefts, which targeted 24 vehicles (including one stolen vehicle tags), two businesses, two street thefts, a nursing home and an apartment house. Four arrests were made. At least 12 of the thefts were of $200 or more. In addition, five vehicles were reported stolen, all of which have been recovered. Two arrests were made.

8th Police District

There were three robberies, which took place on the street of 500 Franklin Mills Circle and involved a knife (June 30), a chain food store at 2900 Welsh Road (June 25) and a vehicle at DiMarco Drive and Greenmount Road (June 28).

There were five aggravated assaults. Two occurred on the street at 8800 Frankford Ave. (July 4) and 8800 Cottage St. (July 5), and both involved handguns. Michele Maclean, 50, was arrested June 27 after a domestic assault at a private residence at 3500 Grant Ave. The others took place at an apartment house at 67100 Delaire Landing Road (June 7) and a prison facility at 8300 State Road (July 1).

There were seven burglaries, all of which targeted private residences or apartment houses. These took place at 8400 Jackson St. (July 2), 2800 Tremont St. (July 8), 3800 Dartmouth Place (June 26), 9300 Tulip St. (July 7), 2700 Welsh Road (June 25) and 3600 Red Lion Road (July 3). There was also a burglary at an unspecified location at 2500 Welsh Road.

There were 49 thefts, which targeted 23 vehicles (including two stolen vehicle tags), 20 businesses, two street thefts, a private residence, an apartment house, a bicycle and an unlisted location. At least 25 of the thefts were of $200 or more. Ten arrests were made. In addition, 11 vehicles were reported stolen, four of which have been recovered. One arrest was made.

15th Police District

There were 11 robberies, including one of a bank at 7300 Frankford Ave. on June 30. A private residence at 7200 Edmund St. was robbed July 8. The rest took place on the street at 3600 Hartel Ave. (July 1), 4200 Tackawanna St. (July 5), 4800 Mulberry St. (July 8), all of which involved handguns; 7100 Jackson St. (July 5), 6100 Keystone St. (June 29), 7100 Charles St. (July 1), the corner of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue (July 4), 5300 Penn St. (July 6) and 6700 Frankford Ave. (July 8).

There were 24 aggravated assaults, which yielded six arrests. Most of these took place on the street at 2000 Wakeling St. (June 25), twice at 5100 Leiper St. (June 26, Billy Dunbar, 30), 4600 Edmund St. (June 27, Reuben Santiago, 30), 1100 Fillmore St. (July 4), 4700 Disston St. (July 4), twice at 5200 Torresdale Ave. (July 8), 4100 Paul St. (July 8), and the intersection of Church Street and Frankford Avenue (July 8), all of which involved handguns; 1600 Granite St. (June 27, Jeffrey Tejada, 30), 4300 Pearce St. (July 4), which involved knives; twice at 1500 Unity St. (July 5), 6300 Farnsworth St. (June 25) and 6000 Hegerman St. (June 26). Others took place at private residences at 5400 Large St. (June 29), 3100 Levick St. (June 29), 5100 Duffield St. (June 26), 5300 Saul St. (June 29), 4200 Paul St. (June 25), 3500 Oakmont St. (July 3, Osvaldo Mercado, 38) and 1700 Fillmore St. (July 8). The last one took place at an apartment house at 4500 Frankford Ave. on July 6 and involved a knife. Avery Bracey, 36, was arrested.

There were 16 burglaries, most of which targeted private residences. These took place at 3000 Brighton St. (July 7), 4300 Vista St. (July 4), 7700 Frankford Ave. (July 7), 7200 Edmund St. (July 8), 5800 Bustleton Ave. (July 2), 5000 Charles St. (July 3), 1400 Orthodox St. (June 25), 2800 Orthodox St. (June 28), 6300 Glenloch St. (June 29), 5200 Sylvester St. (June 29), 6100 Cottage St. (July 1) and 4600 Tacony St. (July 2). Others took place at apartment houses at 4800 Griscom St. (July 1) and 1600 Dyre St., which saw the arrest of Steven Schreckengost, 35 (July 7); and a commercial garage at 4500 Worth St. June 29. Brett A. Krupnick, 50, was arrested June 26 after burglarizing an office building at 7000 Torresdale Ave.

There were 97 thefts, which targeted 42 vehicles (including five stolen vehicle tags), 19 street thefts, 18 businesses, eight private residences, five bicycles, two public schools, a church, a doctor’s office and an auto dealer. Seven arrests were made. In addition, 29 vehicles were reported stolen, 24 of which were recovered. Three arrests were made. ••
