Outdoor movie series coming to the Riverfront

The series will run every Thursday through the summer at Pennypack on the Delaware.

It’s not summer without outdoor movies.

Free movies will be shown at the soccer field at Pennypack on the Delaware as a series run by Riverfront North Partnership. Every movie is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. with kids’ activities scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

The series kicked off this Tuesday with a screening of Despicable Me 3 at the Bridesburg Recreation Center.

Here is the schedule for the remaining five movies:

Thursday, July 19 — The Little Mermaid

Thursday, July 26 — A Bug’s Life

Thursday, Aug. 2 — Ghostbusters (1984)

Thursday, Aug. 9 — Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Thursday, Aug. 16 — Back to the Future (date night — no kids activities)

The series is funded by Councilman Bobby Henon. Movies this summer are sponsored by Bridesburg Community Development Corp., Just Born Inc., Philadelphia Federal Credit Union and the Delaware Valley Cremation Center/The State Room.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets and snacks.
