The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.
As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.
2nd Police District
There were eight robberies, most of which took place on the street. These took place at Roosevelt Boulevard and Summerdale Avenue (July 9), 1500 Knorr St. (July 10), 1700 Cottman Ave. (July 16) and 6300 Castor Ave. (July 20). Josmil Delacruz, 29, was arrested July 19 following a robbery on the street of 6800 Bustleton Ave. Other robberies took place at a private residence at 6100 Castor Ave. and involved a handgun; a mini market at 6800 Bustleton Ave. on July 21; and a retail store at 6400 Castor Ave. involving a handgun on July 20.
The eight aggravated assaults resulted in five arrests. Most assaults took place on the street, happening at 6900 Rising Sun Ave. (July 13, Harold A. Cofer, 47), twice at 2200 Napfle Ave. (July 20, Brandon Colozzi, 24), 5500 Whitaker Ave. (July 17), 6600 Akron St. (July 16) and 1700 Borbeck Ave. (July 21). The other two assaults took place at a private residence at 6900 Loretto Ave. (July 12, Phang D. Sam, 71) and an apartment house at 800 Cottman Ave. (July 15, Tyreek D. Willis, 27).
The seven burglaries mostly targeted private residences and apartment houses. These happened at 2100 Disston St. (July 19), 800 Cottman Ave. (July 11), 1000 Alcott St. (July 13), 800 Granite St. (July 10) and 7900 Ridgeway St. (July 16). Basir Byrd, 20, was arrested July 14 following a burglary of a private residence at 1000 Fanshawe St. An athletic field or playground at 6000 Rising Sun Ave. was burglarized July 18.
There were 75 thefts, which targeted 30 vehicles, 29 businesses, nine street thefts, five private residences, SEPTA property and a bike. Six arrests were made. In addition, 17 vehicles were reported stolen, six of which have been recovered. One arrest was made.
7th Police District
A bank at 9300 Krewstown Road was robbed without a weapon on July 9. The other robbery happened on the street at 8000 Roosevelt Blvd. July 10.
Bogdan Arutyunov, 20, was arrested in the only reported aggravated assault at 700 Red Lion Road July 21.
There were 10 burglaries, which largely targeted private residences and apartment houses. These took place at 800 Lawler St. (July 21), 15000 Milford St. (July 11), 700 Kentwood St. (July 11), 700 Sanford St. (July 16), 13400 Philmont Ave. (July 17), 13500 Bustleton Ave. (July 18), 300 Avon St. (July 9), 1500 Gregg St. (July 15) and 500 Larkspur St. (July 9). There was also a burglary at an office building at 9700 Bustleton Ave., which resulted in the arrest of Vadiam Meranchuk, 45, on July 18.
There were 39 thefts, which targeted 20 vehicles, nine businesses, four street thefts, two apartment houses, a private residence, a public school, a bicycle and an unspecified location. Three arrests were made. In addition, eight vehicles were reported stolen, five of which were recovered.
8th Police District
A robbery involving a handgun took place on the street of 2600 Welsh Road on July 14. The other robbery took place at a chain food store at 2900 Welsh Road on July 11 and involved a knife.
There were five aggravated assaults. Alexander Burnett, 29, was arrested July 22 following an assault on the street at 8000 Roosevelt Blvd. July 22. Two domestic assaults took place on the street at 8300 Torresdale Ave. (July 9) and 2800 Nightingale Road (July 12), and another at a private residence at 1100 Stewards Way (July 22). An assault at a prison facility at 8200 State Road happened July 18.
There were five burglaries. They targeted private residences at 8400 Jackson St. (July 10) and 3300 Morning Glory Road (July 11) and an apartment house at 10800 Keswick Road (July 12). A commercial garage at 8800 Torresdale Ave. was burglarized July 12. An unspecified location at 8900 Torresdale Ave. was burglarized July 9.
There were 50 thefts, which targeted 17 vehicles (including four stolen car phones and a vehicle tag), 16 businesses, eight street thefts including a purse snatching, four private residences, two apartment houses, a private club, a nursing home and an unspecified location. Three arrests were made. In addition, eight vehicles were reported stolen, five of which have been recovered. One arrest was made.
15th Police District
There were 31 robberies, most of which took place on the street. Robberies that involved handguns on the street happened at 7300 Frankford Ave. (July 9), 1600 Orthodox St. (July 13), 6300 Marsden St. (July 14), 1600 Pratt St. (July 15, Tyrone Freeman-Jones, 24), 5100 Frankford Ave. (July 15), Vandike and Disston streets (July 17, two arrests), 3400 Rhawn St. (July 20), 1200 Herbert St. (July 22), 5200 Frankford Ave. (July 11) and 4400 Elizabeth St. (July 18). Robberies involving other weapons happened at 6500 Sackett St. (July 21) and 5100 Frankford Ave. (July 22). Robberies not involving weapons on the street took place at 4400 Frankford Ave. (July 11, Martin Leon, 29), 6200 Frankford Ave. (July 12), Adams Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard (July 14, Jonathan Ortiz, 35), Bridge Street and Bustleton Avenue (July 15), 4600 Castor Ave. (July 15), Foulkrod and Penn streets (July 15), 5000 Frankford Ave. (July 15), twice at 5200 Frankford Ave. (July 17 and 18, Sean Williams, 32), 4600 Frankford Ave. (July 19), 5200 Frankford Ave. again (July 19), 1300 Sanger St. (July 22), an express ramp (July 11) and a purse snatching at Castor Avenue and Arrott Street (July 13). A bank at 6600 Roosevelt Blvd. was robbed twice on July 9 and 14. Other robberies took place at a food store at 5400 Oxford Ave. (July 21), a gas station at 5200 Harbison Ave. (July 13), and a chain retail store at 7100 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 16).
The 16 aggravated assaults resulted in seven arrests. These took place on the street at 4300 Leiper St. (July 13, Shareef Miller, 24), 5200 Saul St. (July 14), 1900 Margaret St. (July 18) and twice at 4700 Tackawanna St. (July 20), all of which involved handguns; and 7800 Rowland Ave. (July 12) and 4300 Benner St. (July 18), both of which involved knives. Assaults involving other weapons took place on the street at 7700 Walker St. (July 9), 4500 Salmon St. (July 11, Nicholas Becker, 28) and 6600 Vandike St. (July 14). Domestic assaults took place on the street at 6600 Montague St. (July 16), twice at 6400 Marsden St. (July 21, Traine Smith, 48), 6300 Mershon St. (July 10, Albert Boykin, 53) and 4100 Stirling St. (July 13, Humberto R. Ramirez, 63). There was also an assault at a private residence at 2900 Longshore Ave. (July 22, Joel Ramirez, 22).
There were 10 burglaries. They targeted private residences at 2800 Orthodox St. (July 10), 4900 Hawthorne St. (July 16, Luis Miranda, 51), 1800 Wakeling St. (July 21), 6600 Tulip St. (July 9) and 4600 Sheffield Ave. (July 10, Jennifer M. Settle, 38), and an apartment house at 1600 Haworth St. (July 17). Two restaurants were burglarized at 6200 Bustleton Ave. (July 16) and 6600 Frankford Ave. (July 10), and a cafe at 7600 Roosevelt Blvd. was targeted July 14. A factory or warehouse at 4200 Tackawanna St. was burglarized July 12.
There were 94 thefts, which targeted 43 vehicles (including two stolen vehicle tags and a car phone), 22 businesses, 16 thefts, 11 private residences, a bank, a bicycle and an unspecified location. Twelve arrests were made. In addition, 31 vehicles were reported stolen, 16 of which have been recovered. Two arrests were made. ••
