The Northeast Times would like to congratulate the following college graduates, students who were named to their school’s dean’s list, and area residents who recently received special honors.

Karlie A Ethridge earned a bachelor of arts magna cum laude at the 176th commencement ceremony of Mary Baldwin University (Virginia).

Katherine E. Cabrera-Hunt was one of 482 seniors who graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, receiving a bachelor of arts degree. U.S. Sen. Susan Collins was the guest speaker. Cabrera-Hunt, who majored in French studies and government, attended Science Leadership Academy and is the daughter of Rosmery Hunt and Raymundus Hunt.

More than 1,600 students have been named to the dean’s list at East Stroudsburg University. Students eligible for the dean’s list are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade “B” earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade “A” earns 4 quality points per credit.

Local members of the dean’s list are Khamani Barnes-Green (criminal justice major), Madison Burrows (exercise science), Timothy DiGiorgio (business management), Airyanna Elkins (philosophy), Jeffrey Louis (digital media technologies), Devonna Marshall (psychology), Ebonee Mears (social work), Christopher Ostapchuk (Spanish), Ivanna Pittman (communication), Monica Rodriguez-Ortiz (business management), Alliah Rone (public health), Valentina Scalici (psychology), Johnny Sonpon (business management) and Kaitlyn Wright (criminal justice).

More than 2,000 Coastal Carolina University students were named to the dean’s list. Students who make the dean’s list have achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher during the semester. CCU has a student population of 10,600.

Among those named to the dean’s list were Savannah Bradley, a psychology major; Erin Golden (finance); Lynn MacKiewicz (special education multi-categorical); and James Queen (economics).

Nearly 750 students have been named to the president’s list at Coastal Carolina University. Students named to the president’s list achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the semester. Among those named to the president’s list was Sydney Brown, an exercise and sport science major.

More than 450 students graduated as Susquehanna University closed its 160th academic year. Thomas Haughey graduated with a BS in elementary education. A 2014 graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School, he is the son of Tom Haughey and Lisa Bucher. Gabrielle Nirenberchik graduated with a BA in psychology. A 2014 graduate of Northeast High School, she is the daughter of Roman and Rita Nirenberchik.

Colby-Sawyer (New Hampshire) awarded more than 260 undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Kevin Richardson graduated with a degree in business administration. Richardson graduated magna cum laude as a member of the Wesson Honors Program, the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society and the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in business, management and administration. He served as president of the Student Government Association.

Ai Sy graduated with a degree in public health. Sy was treasurer of the Knitting Club.

Kyle Douglass has been named to the Champlain College (Vermont) dean’s list for the spring 2018 semester. Students on the dean’s list have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester. Douglass is majoring in computer forensics and digital investigations.

Brigid McGettigan, a member of the class of 2018, was named to the dean’s List at Loyola University Maryland. To qualify for the dean’s list at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term and successfully complete courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits. ••
