The Block Gives Back will sponsor a Peace & Play Day on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Carmella Playground, 2100 Wakeling St. The event will feature DJ Serenity, live entertainment, volleyball, dodge ball, musical chairs, hopscotch, arts and crafts, face painting, water ice, vendors, nonprofits, water balloon fights, guest speakers and free grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and chips for kids.
The group asks the community to donate back-to-school items for local students.
Proceeds will go to repairs at Carmella Playground and a book bag drive for students. ••
