Nonprofit vet clinic plans for expansion

Dutton Road Veterinary Clinic is clearing space for 5,000-square-foot ‘state-of-the-art’ addition to the facility that also includes the National Greyhound Adoption Program.

The Dutton Road Veterinary Clinic is in the preliminary stages of completing a new 5,000-square-foot addition, according to David Wolf, the facility’s director.

Wolf said the expansion will double the size of the nonprofit clinic, which serves dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals.

The addition will be located within the current 100,000-square-foot property, which also includes the National Greyhound Adoption Program kennel, in an area that was previously used for warehousing, Wolf said.

“We’re going to clear the space in the next month,” he said. “This is a huge project.”

Wolf said the addition will be “state of the art” and will include more exam rooms for the clinic.

“We’re expanding to better serve the community,” he said.

On a recent weekday, doctors at the clinic saw 70 clients, and they routinely perform five to 10 surgeries a day, according to Wolf.

Currently, the clinic and NGAP utilize 50,000 square feet of the massive property, which is off Comly Road in the Far Northeast. Wolf founded NGAP in 1989 and established the clinic in 2011.

In addition to the planned expansion, the clinic recently hired three new veterinarians, bringing its total to five. Wolf said the clinic has never operated with more than three veterinarians.

“We fit into a good spot because, №1, we’re a modern facility,” he added. “We give excellent treatment, and we do it at a price that’s much lower” than specialized and for-profit clinics.

Dutton Road Veterinary Clinic is located at 10901 Dutton Road. For more information, visit www.duttonroadvetclinic.com or call 215–331–2968. ••
