Brews at Burholme on Saturday

Burholme Park Golf Center and Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company will host upcoming days of family fun at the Brews at Burholme at the golf center, 401 Cottman Ave. Future Brews at Burholme events are set for noon to 6 p.m. on Saturdays, Sept. 22 and Oct. 20.

There will be discounts, including $1 off mini-golf. Draft beers will be available, and the golf range, arcade, batting cages and golf center café will be open. A portion of the proceeds will go directly back to Burholme Park. For information, visit the Brews at Burholme Facebook event page. ••

Renew/apply for passport on Saturday

The Philadelphia Passport Agency welcomes people to apply for or renew a passport on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office is in the U.S. Custom Building, 200 Chestnut St.

No appointment is needed. Applications can be completed at travel.state.gov, and an unsigned, printed copy, along with a photo, can be brought to the office.

ShopRite hosting Help Bag Hunger

In recognition of September’s National Hunger Action Month, ShopRite will host ShopRite Partners In Caring “Help Bag Hunger” day at its stores at 11000 Roosevelt Blvd. and 9910 Frankford Ave. on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Among those bagging groceries will be officials from Engine 62 and the 7th Police District. There will also be a best bagger contest among cashiers. The event will benefit local food banks.

Hero Thrill Show on Saturday

The 64th annual Philadelphia Hero Thrill Show will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22, at noon in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Center.

Music mogul Kenny Gamble will be the grand marshal. The show will feature police highway patrol motorcycle acts and appearances by the aviation, bomb squad, crime scene investigation, SWAT, firearms and marine units. Proceeds benefit the educations of the families of deceased local firefighters and police officers lost in the line of duty. ••

Clothing drive to benefit cancer care

The Marlyn Fein Chapter, Fox Chase Cancer Center is running a clothing drive on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 604 Township Line Road, Cheltenham, from 9 a.m. to noon. The public is encouraged to bring gently used clothing, accessories, books and small trinkets in bags or boxed for pickup. The event supports cancer research and compassionate patient care. ••

Concert on Friday at NE Older Adult Center

The Northeast Older Adult Center, 8101 Bustleton Ave., will host its annual Hot Summer Nights Concert on Friday Sept. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. ••

Fall Toy Train show is Sunday

The Train Collectors Association Atlantic Division will hold its Fall Toy Train Show and Sale on Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Hall (Penns Landing Caterers), 1301 S. Columbus Blvd.

The show will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, or per family of two adults and all children 12 and under.

Ajayi coming to ShopRite

Proctor and Gamble Foods has arranged for running back Jay Ajayi to visit the ShopRite near Harbison Avenue and Bridge Street on Wednesday, Sept. 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Ajayi, who has rushed for three touchdowns this season, will not be signing autographs.

Rather, he will be there to promote the P&G ProActive Campaign and to bag groceries in honor of the 10th annual ShopRite Partners in Caring Help Bag Hunger Day. ••

Apply for scholarships

Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia will hold an application launch on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Holmesburg Recreation Center, 4500 Rhawn St.

Income-eligible families are invited to apply for 2,000 new kindergarten to eighth-grade scholarships to tuition-based schools. ••

Free outdoor movies

The city Department of Parks and Recreation will be sponsoring upcoming free outdoor movie nights on Fridays. The movies will start about 15 minutes after sunset.

On Sept. 21, watch Avengers: Infinity War at Houseman Recreation Center, 5091 Summerdale Ave. On Sept. 28, watch The Emoji Movie at Palmer Playground, 3035 Comly Road. ••

Running series for kids

The Healthy Kids Running Series will hold four upcoming events on the grounds of Washington Savings Bank, 2900 Comly Road. The dates are Sept. 23 and 30 and Oct. 7 and 14. Holy Innocents going to Atlantic City

Holy Innocents Catholic Church is sponsoring a trip to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City on Sunday, Oct. 7.

A bus will depart L Street and Hunting Park Avenue at 9 a.m. and leave Resorts at 4:30 p.m.

Participants will paint Halloween-themed, spider web wine glasses.

There will be 14 games, and the prizes will include power tools and designer handbags.
