The big show
Gritty T-shirt sales highlight Eagles pregame podcast in Mayfair.
The WIP SportsRadio Go Birds pregame show and podcast returned on Sunday at Frankford and Ryan avenues with hosts Adam Caplan and John Barchard.
Former Eagles quarterback A.J. Feeley, who was at the first show two weeks earlier, was back to sign autographs and pose for pictures.
Merchants on hand were Factory Donuts, Halal Guys, Grey Lodge Pub. Dunphy Ford (which raffled off Eagles shirts), Awesome Little Cupcakes, Rita’s and Art History 101. A long line formed to buy Art History 101 T-shirts featuring the likeness of Gritty, the new Flyers mascot.
The day also included cornhole, Miller Lite ring toss, face painting, the WIP prize wheel and temporary “Go Birds” tattoos.
Patty-Pat Kozlowski, Republican candidate in the 177th Legislative District, handed out miniature footballs and Eagles schedules.
The Mayfair Business Improvement District is partnering with WIP to bring the show and podcast to Frankford and Ryan for all Eagles away games.
The next pregame show and podcast will be on Oct. 11, the Thursday night game against the New York Giants. The game will be shown on a big screen, and fans will have a chance to use a sledgehammer to smash a Giants car, courtesy of Dunphy.
Factory Donuts will host the Oct. 28 pregame show, with a breakfast theme, for the Eagles game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. That game has a 9:30 a.m. kickoff Philadelphia time.
An Eagles alumni player will attend each show. ••
