The association met for the first time in 18 months to discuss upcoming events, such as football watch parties and a Halloween apocalypse party.
The Mayfair Business Association met last week for the first time in 18 months, and there was plenty on theĀ agenda.
The business association was sidelined with the emergence of the Mayfair Business Improvement District, as business owners did not want to ask for more money from fellow merchants, who are already funding theĀ BID.
The business association has a balance of aboutĀ $1,200.
In Mayfair, organizations often work in tandem. The business association and BID team up with the civic association and community development corporation.
Upcoming events include a watch party at Frankford and Ryan avenues for the Oct. 11 game between the Eagles and New York Giants; a Halloween-themed apocalypse party on a date to be determined on the 6200 block of Frankford Ave.; Halloween and Christmas decorating contests for houses and businesses; a Christmas village, tree lighting, DJ and appearance by Santa Claus on Dec. 2 at Frankford and Cottman avenues; and boxes at businesses to support the Toys for Tots campaign.
In other news, state Sen. Tina Tartaglione provided a grant for the CDC to clean streets off the Frankford Avenue business corridor.
World of Animals, 6503 Frankford Ave., will host a pet costume contest on Oct. 27 and photos with Santa Claus on Dec.Ā 9.
The 42nd Mayfair Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade will take place on Sunday, Nov. 18, at noon, along Frankford Avenue. The rain date is Nov.Ā 25.
Volunteers and banner carriers are needed. Organizers are also seeking sponsors, and invite bands to join theĀ parade.
The parade grand marshals will be the Philadelphia Police Explorer CadetĀ program.
Boy Scouts will be collecting food along the parade route to donate to the Feast ofĀ Justice.
On the day of the parade, the WIP Eagles pregame podcast will be at Frankford and Ryan from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30Ā p.m.
