The goal for the Little Flower-Snider partnership is to field a competitive team.
“This partnership is an obvious synergy,” said Little Flower President Jeane McNamara.
Students who participate in the Snider programs in their elementary and middle school years are eligible for the Breakaway Scholarship a partnership between Archdiocese of Philadelphia Schools and Snider Hockey.
Snider Hockey President and CEO said Scott Tharp, “The AOPS high schools are a perfect fit for our mission because they guarantee our students a highly charged high school experience that prepares them for the college years.”
Snider’s Crayons to Careers programming allows for Snider’s philanthropy to guarantee college tuition for eligible Snider Hockey participants.
“When we connected with Jeane and heard her vision for Little Flower and recognized she had a clear understanding of support systems necessary for competitive athletes as well as developing the pipeline for potential Snider Hockey participants, it was a matter of getting the word out and making it happen,” Tharp said.
Little Flower last week presented its plan to the Snider afterschool program at Scanlon Rink, J and Tioga streets.
