There is plenty of fun throughout the Northeast this week with Halloween events, a dance festival, flea market and more.

Costume street party on Friday

There will be a costume street party on Friday, Oct. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Frankford and Cottman avenues.

The evening will include beer, food, candy, zombies, dancers, music from Real 106.1, face painting and a casket and hearse onsite from McCafferty Funeral Homes.

At 8:45 p.m., Frankford Avenue will be shut down for a Thriller dance.

The event is sponsored by the Mayfair Business Improvement District, Republic Bank, goPuff, City Councilman Bobby Henon and Dunphy Ford. ••

Wednesday night meeting at Picariello

City Councilman Brian O’Neill invites neighbors to a community meeting to review and provide input to plans for improvements at Picariello Playground, 10811 Calera Road. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m.

For those unable to attend the meeting, the plans will remain on display for the following month.

Reunions planned for Raiders and Ragdolls

The Archbishop Ryan High School class of 2008 will celebrate its 10-year reunion on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Townsend Room, 12273 Townsend Road.

Halloween party on Saturday night

A Halloween party and costume contest will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Club Atlantis, inside Fisher’s Tudor House, 1858 Street Road in Bensalem.

The winner of the costume contest will receive $500.

The cover charge is $6. The party is for people 21 and older, and there will be drinks and dancing.

Trunk or Treat Sunday in Tacony

Star of Hope Baptist Church, 7212–28 Keystone St., will host a Trunk or Treat on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The afternoon will include free candy, popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, pretzels, beverages, games, face painting, balloons and a bounce house/slide. ••

Dance festival at Northeast High

State Rep. Jared Solomon and Northeast High School will present Pennsylvania Ballet II on Friday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. The title is Youth Dance Festival: Shining a Spotlight on Dance Education. Admission is free.

Deal or No Deal at St. Joachim

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Francis de Sales 2617 will hold a Deal or No Deal event on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at St. Joachim Hall, 1527 Church St. Tickets cost $20.

A buffet lunch will be served. There will be a 50–50.

Cash bingo at St. Bart’s Church

Flea market and bazaar on Saturday

Crescentville United Methodist Church, 412 Sentner St., will host a flea market and bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The day will include homemade baked goods, homemade vegetable beef soup and lunch items for sale. ••

Learn about stock market investing

The nonprofit Philadelphia chapter of Better Investing will present information on stock market investing basics on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Northeast Regional Library, 2228 Cottman Ave.

The event is free, and no registration is required.

Discounts available for show

Glen Foerd on the Delaware has teamed with Elkins Park-based improv theater troupe Bright Invention to bring the classic mystery game Clue to life.

Glen Foerd, 5001 Grant Ave., will host four interactive performances of Room with a Clue. The show is for all ages.

Guests will search the mansion and question characters for the information they need to make an accusation and solve the murder.

There will be music and a cash bar.

Performances will be held at 6 and 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28.

The performance lasts about 90 minutes. Tickets are $30 each at bit.do/rwaclue

Open house at BVM

Maternity BVM Elementary School, 9322 Old Bustleton Ave., will hold an open house on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.

There will be registration information for the 2019/20 school year, student-led tours, financial aid information, hands-on school activities and a look at the school’s media and student video center.

Visitors will have a chance to meet the teachers, Home and School Association representatives and CYO coaches.

Concert at U of Arts

Day trips scheduled

The Travel with KleinLife series consists of five one-day excursions.

The series will get underway on Sunday, Oct. 28, with a trip to the Zellerbach Theatre at the University Pennsylvania to enjoy Soul Songs: Inspiring Women of Klezmer.

Then it’s off to New York on Sunday, Nov. 4, to see the musical Mean Girls, playing at the August Wilson Theatre.

The excursions continue on Wednesday, Nov. 28, with a trip to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. The trip features a live show with vocalist Michael McGeehan.

Staying closer to home, Travel With KleinLife will visit the Smoke & Mirrors Magic Theatre, in Huntingdon Valley, on Thursday, Dec. 11, to enjoy a private magic and comedy performance.

The final trip in the series is an excursion to Broadway on Sunday, March 10, to enjoy The Cher Show,

Bridesburg seniors planning trip

Bridesburg All Saints Seniors will enjoy A Taste of Country Christmas in Nashville, Tennessee.

The seniors will spend five days and four nights in Tennessee, from Dec. 8–12.

Support Hurricane Florence victims

The American Legion is collecting non-perishable food and new toys to help support active duty soldiers, veterans and their families recover from the flood damage caused by Hurricane Florence.

Bruce Conklin, commander of the William D. Oxley Post in Holmesburg, said, “We’re just trying to help people whose lives have been turned upside down. If we can relieve the burden on families as Christmas approaches and help to create some sense of normalcy, then we will have accomplished our mission.”

Five dropoff points have been set up to accept donations. They are William D. Oxley American Legion Post 133, 4637 Decatur St. (at Torresdale Avenue), weekdays at 3 p.m. and weekends at noon; Cpl. Holy Inn going to Atlantic City

Holy Innocents Parish is planning a trip to the Tropicana Casino on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

A bus will depart from L Street and Hunting Park Avenue at 9:30 a.m.

The trip includes $15 in slot cash, a Tropicana buffet and the holiday show Jingle.
