Crime Log: Oct. 15 through 28

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

2nd Police District

There were five robberies. Robberies on the street took place at 400 Lardner St. (Oct. 26), which involved a handgun, and 5700 Oxford Ave. (Oct. 25), which involved a knife or another weapon. A restaurant at 2200 Cottman Ave. was robbed Oct. 24, and public housing at 500 E. Hill Creek Drive was robbed with a handgun Oct. 15. A bank at 6500 Castor Ave. was robbed Oct. 25.

There were 12 aggravated assaults, many of which occurred at private residences. David Grier, 23, was arrested Oct. 20 following a domestic assault at a private residence at 6500 Everett Ave. Other assaults at private residences include domestic assaults at 900 Granite St. (Oct. 23) at 6200 Trotter St. (Oct. 26) and an assault involving a handgun at 5500 N. Hill St. (Oct. 22). Assaults on the street include domestic assaults at 600 Garland St. (Oct. 18), 1300 Unruh Ave. (Oct. 26) and 1100 Passmore St. (Oct. 27), an assault with a handgun at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oct. 28) and assaults involving weapons at 1800 Cottman Ave. (Oct. 18) and 7200 Large St. (Oct. 25). Others took place at a restaurant at 6600 Castor Ave. (Oct. 27) and at a public school at 5700 Langdon St. (Oct. 17), which resulted in six arrests.

There were seven burglaries, all of which targeted private residences and apartment houses. Jermaine Clarke, 40, was arrested Oct. 8 following a burglary at a private residence at 800 Bridge St., and Carlos Giraldo, 32, was arrested Oct. 17 following a burglary at a private residence at 6100 Tabor Ave. Other private residences that were burglarized were at 6500 Bradford Terrace (Oct. 21), 7400 Whitaker Ave. (Oct. 23) and 500 Alcott St. (Oct. 27), which resulted in an arrest. Apartment houses that were burglarized were at 6000 Rising Sun Ave. (Oct. 19) and 5800 Hasbrook Ave. (Oct. 23).

There were 65 thefts, which targeted 25 vehicles (including a stolen vehicle tag), 23 businesses, eight street thefts, three private residences, three apartment houses, a bicycle, a public school and a gas station. Six arrests were made. In addition, 20 vehicles were reported stolen, 12 of which have been recovered. One arrest was made.

7th District Police

There were two robberies, which took place on the street at 8200 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oct. 24) and 13600 Philmont Ave. (Oct. 25).

There were no reported aggravated assaults.

Joseph Ricigliano, 49, was arrested Oct. 16 following a burglary at a private residence at 10200 Dedaker St. Other burglaries took place at an apartment house at 800 Red Lion Road (Oct. 17), a restaurant at 8500 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 20) and a check cashing agency at 8100 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 23).

There were 23 thefts, which targeted 12 vehicles, nine businesses, a private residence and a public school. Two arrests were made. In addition, five vehicles were reported stolen, two of which have been recovered.

8th Police District

Two of the three robberies targeted chain retail stores at 8000 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 19) and 2900 Welsh Road (Oct. 23). Both of these incidents involved handguns. The third robbery took place on the street at 4400 Wingate St. on Oct. 23 and did not involve weapons.

There were four aggravated assaults. These took place at a private residence at 400 Waterview Lane (Oct. 26), a domestic assault at 8000 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 20), on the street at 12300 Academy Road (Oct. 25) and at a prison facility at 8200 State Road (Oct. 25).

Three of the four burglaries targeted private residences. These took place at 4600 Strahle St. (Oct. 16), 8400 Walker St. (Oct. 22) and 4300 Ashburner St. (Oct. 15). An apartment house at 1400 Riverside Drive was burglarized Oct. 20.

There were 44 thefts, which targeted 21 vehicles (including four stolen vehicle tags), 20 businesses, two street thefts and a bicycle. Two arrests were made. In addition, seven vehicles were reported stolen, six of which have been recovered.

15th Police District

There were 21 robberies, most of which took place on the street. Robberies that took place on the street and involved handguns happened at 4700 Edmund St. (Oct. 19), Torresdale Avenue and Wellington Street (Oct. 20), Hawthorne and Higbee streets (Oct. 21), 4900 Penn St. (Oct. 21), 4700 Salem St. (Oct. 23), 4100 Salem St. (Oct. 26), 4700 Worth St. (Oct. 28) and two robberies at vehicles at 4600 Josephine St. (Oct. 17) and 3900 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oct. 17). A robbery on the street that involved another weapon took place at 7000 Vandike St. on Oct. 22. Robberies that took place on the street that involved no weapons happened at 5900 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 18), 7200 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oct. 19), 3400 Oakmont St. (Oct. 20), 5300 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 24), 5200 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 25), 4400 Aldine St. (Oct. 26) and at a vehicle at 4400 Loring St. (Oct. 20). The others took place at a drugstore at 1500 E. Cheltenham Ave. involving a handgun (Oct. 22), a private residence at 4700 Howell St. involving a knife or other weapon (Oct. 16), a mini market at 7200 Edmund St. (Oct. 17) and a chain store at 5500 Tulip St. which resulted in the arrest of Brian P. Meadows, 49 (Oct. 15).

There were 15 aggravated assaults, most of which took place on the street. Onilo Jarman, 39, was arrested Oct. 19 following an assault at 3200 Ryan Ave. Other assaults on the street happened at 3200 Gilham St. (Oct. 17), 4600 Edmund St. (Oct. 26) and 5100 Castor Ave. (Oct. 26), all of which involved handguns; 5200 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 16) and twice at 1800 Orthodox St. (Oct. 23), all of which involved knives; 5100 Leiper St. (Oct. 17) and 4200 Salmon St. (Oct. 19), both of which involved other weapons; and a domestic assault at 1600 Wakeling St. (Oct. 28) and an assault involving no weapons at 6800 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 20). Assaults at private residences took place at 4700 Charles Terrace (Oct. 15, Damien Glover, 25), 4900 Cottage St. (Oct. 16, Sabrina Williams, 24) and 1600 Haworth St. (Oct. 15). An assault at a mental institution at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. took place Oct. 22 and resulted in an arrest.

There were 15 burglaries, most of which targeted private residences or apartment houses. Burglaries at private residences took place at 1800 Wakeling St. (Oct. 19), 4900 Longshore Ave. (Oct. 22), 6300 Ditman St. (Oct. 27), 4300 Paul St. (Oct. 15), 1300 Fillmore St. (Oct. 23), 2100 Lardner St. (Oct. 16), 4300 Vista St. (Oct. 25) and two attempts at 5700 Cottage St. (Oct. 19) and 3100 Unruh Ave. (Oct. 16). Burglaries at apartment houses took place at 4900 Penn St. (Oct. 17), 3200 Magee Ave. (Oct. 27), 6800 Ditman St. (Oct. 17) and 5900 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 19). A burglary at a warehouse at 4100 Richmond St. took place Oct. 15, and a burglary on the street at 5700 Frankford Ave. took place Oct. 16.

There were 81 thefts, which targeted 37 vehicles (including four stolen vehicle tags), 21 businesses, 15 street thefts, four private residences, two public schools, a bicycle and an unlisted location. Seven arrests were made. In addition, 35 vehicles were reported stolen, 19 of which have been recovered. Two arrests were made. ••
