Bustleton neighbors voted on zoning issues and heard a crime update at Greater Bustleton Civic League’s October meeting.
Neighbors voted on two zoning issues at Greater Bustleton Civic League’s October meeting, even though only one party showed up to give a presentation.
A homeowner at 1136 Medway Road presented a zoning variance request to legalize a deck in the property’s side yard. Decks are prohibited in the neighborhood’s zoning district. The deck was built in 2007, before the homeowner bought the home earlier this year, but the previous homeowners never filed to have it legalized.
Neighbors voted to support the variance’s approval 19 to 11. The recommendation will be taken into account at the ZBA hearing on Dec. 5.
No one was present to discuss the erection of a structure to be used as a two-family dwelling with a garage and parking spaces on a property at 1922 Kohl St. Neighbors unanimously voted not to support the proposal. The ZBA hearing is scheduled for Dec. 19.
In other news from the meeting, 7th Police District Capt. Robert Ritchie said an arrest was made concerning the string of thefts targeting owners of Honda Accords, years 2016 through 2018. The suspect, who targeted tires and rims for those car models, is in custody, Ritchie said.
“Across the board, crime is down in the double digits from this time last year,” Ritchie said.
