Students shine at St. Cecilia’s Got Talent competition

Three students took home prizes for singing.

The St. Cecilia Parish Event Planning committee recently hosted a St. Cecilia’s Got Talent competition.

The winner was Sasha Kleiner, a 16-year-old Council Rock South High School sophomore who trains at the Newtown School of Music. She sung California Dreamin’.

The runner-up was Jessica Morton, who attends Bucks County Technical School. She sung Fix You, by Coldplay.

In third place was Cecilia Kern, an eighth-grade student at Newtown Middle School. She sung Gimme, Gimme, from the hit musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.

The winners were given MasterCard gift cards.

In all, there were 21 performers.

Lisa Hnat served as executive director.

The emcee was longtime educator Kathy McDonough.

The judges were Joe Mullin, of the band Celtic Connection; St. Cecilia math and science teacher Sister Christina Marie Roberts, IHM; and Mario Marzullo, a St. Cecilia cantor and head of the St. Cecilia Theatre Troupe, for students in sixth through eighth grades. ••
