Mayfair restaurant scraps roof deck plan

Developers of former Teamsters property have withdrawn application for a rooftop deck at a planned Asian Fusion restaurant and bar.

The owners of a restaurant and bar being built at Cottman and Brous avenues have abandoned a plan to construct a rooftop deck for the time being.

Eastern Plaza LP, the company developing the former Teamsters property at 2825-35 Cottman Ave., last week withdrew its zoning application for a 3,320-square-foot deck atop a one-story bar and restaurant.

The project as a whole has drawn criticism from neighbors. In October, residents at the Mayfair Civic Association meeting voted almost unanimously against the roof deck and raised concerns about parking and noise from the restaurant and bar.

Eastern Plaza plans to open an Asian Fusion restaurant with a karaoke bar at the site.

It’s unclear how the move to withdraw the application for the roof deck will affect the overall design of the project.

Steven L. Zheng, operator of the not-yet-opened restaurant, told the Times on Friday that the plans for the property have not been updated yet. ••
