The Mayfair Civic Association last week distributed prizes to the winners of its annual Christmas Decorating Contest.
The winners were:
• Business: Hot Looks Hair Salon, 3258 Wellington St.; Joe Ems State Farm, 7348 Frankford Ave.; St. Matthew Rectory, 3000 Cottman Ave.
• Singles/Corners/Twins: 7411 Brous Ave., 7816 Lexington Ave., 7930 Lister St.
• Rowhome: 3513 Shelmire Ave., 3439 Chippendale St., 3319 Chippendale St.
Civic association president Donny Smith and others delivered the prizes aboard a 1950s-era Philadelphia Transportation Company trolley.
Winners received a lawn sign declaring them one of the best decorated homes or businesses in Mayfair. They also received a bag with gifts from sponsors such as Bellalisa Hair Studio, Cottman Beverage, Mike Perzel Insurance Agency, Holmesburg Bakery, Torresdale Flowers, Factory Donuts, First Class Pharmacy, Dunphy Ford, Aztec Sings, World of Animals, the Philly Soft Pretzel Factory and Deer Meadows.
The trolley is available for tours of 100 of the best decorated homes in Mayfair. Christmas music will play on the trolley, which is decorated with lights, garland, stockings and ornaments.
The cost is $10, or $5 for children shorter than the 42-inch antique fare box.
The tour will take about an hour. Time slots available are at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Dec. 28-31 and Jan. 1.
