City Councilwoman Cherelle Parker and state Rep. Isabella Fitzgerald addressed the recent meeting of the Lawncrest Community Association.
Parker and Fitzgerald also presented citations to Lawncrest-based crossing guards.
Nck Himebaugh, an aide to U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle, distributed citations on behalf of the congressman. Boyle’s late mom, Eileen, was a crossing guard in Olney.
The community association handed out citations to the crossing guards from state Sen. Tina Tartaglione and state Rep. Jared Solomon.
In other news from the Dec. 18 meeting:
• The Lawncrest Recreation Center is temporarily closed with a serious rodent problem. The basketball, volleyball, Zumba and Walk Away the Pounds programs have all been postponed. The after-school program has been moved to Lawncrest Library.
• Mark Mroz, the community relations officer in the 2nd Police District, provided a crime update.
• A moment of silence was observed in memory of neighborhood resident Claire Naulty Downey.
• The Lawncrest Community Association will meet again on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. at St. William parish hall, Argyle and Robbins streets. ••
