Crossing guards honored at Lawncrest meeting

Safety first: Nine crossing guards received citations during the Dec. 18 Lawncrest Community Association meeting.

City Councilwoman Cherelle Parker and state Rep. Isabella Fitzgerald addressed the recent meeting of the Lawncrest Community Association.

Parker and Fitzgerald also presented citations to Lawncrest-based crossing guards.

Nck Himebaugh, an aide to U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle, distributed citations on behalf of the congressman. Boyle’s late mom, Eileen, was a crossing guard in Olney.

The community association handed out citations to the crossing guards from state Sen. Tina Tartaglione and state Rep. Jared Solomon.

• Mark Mroz, the community relations officer in the 2nd Police District, provided a crime update.

• A moment of silence was observed in memory of neighborhood resident Claire Naulty Downey.

• The Lawncrest Community Association will meet again on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. at St. William parish hall, Argyle and Robbins streets. ••
