Democrat Joe Hohenstein, who was inaugurated last week to represent the 177th Legislative District, will hold a grand opening and open house on Saturday, Jan. 12, from noon to 3 p.m. at his office at 4725 Richmond St.
Community members are welcome to come to meet Hohenstein.
The Ferko String Band will entertain, and a SEPTA representative will be on hand to issue Key Fare Cards to senior citizens.
Refreshments will be provided. The event will take place rain or shine.
Hohenstein, an immigration lawyer from Northwood, replaces Republican John Taylor, who retired after 34 years. He has also moved into Taylor’s former office.
The telephone number is 215-744-2600.
“I’m beyond honored and privileged to serve my community in this new role as a state representative,” Hohenstein said. “I’m committed to continue the work to raise the minimum wage and support our workers, women and equal pay, a clean environment, sensible gun laws, and fair districts to provide everyone an equal voice in government.”
Hohenstein said his legislative priorities include full fair funding for Philadelphia schools, solutions to the drug crisis and tax structures that are fair to working families and make corporations pay their fair share.
The 177th Legislative District comprises the neighborhoods of Bridesburg, Northwood and portions of Frankford, Wissinoming, Port Richmond, Tacony, West Mayfair, Holmesburg, Holme Circle and Lexington Park.
