Officers discharged their weapons and killed two dogs who were attacking a woman and her dog in Bustleton last week.

The incident happened Jan. 7 on the 1900 block of Goodnaw Street. The two officers arrived at the scene, and the dogs tried to attack them, too. Each officer shot a dog, said 7th Police District Capt. Robert Ritchie.

The two dogs, pitbulls, attacked and killed another dog back in December, police said. After that incident, they were taken to animal control and quarantined in their owner’s house.

In that incident, the dogs had killed a dog and attacked its owner and his landlord, Action News reported.

Police said the incident is still an active ongoing criminal investigation, with police attempting to track down more witnesses to the incident. ••
