Dougherty, St. Hubert alumnae hoops

St. Hubert High School will host a girls alumnae basketball doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 26.

A Cardinal Dougherty alumnae game will take place at 2 p.m., followed by a St. Hubert alumnae game at 3 p.m. The cost is $10 per player.

Afterward, there will be a reception at Jimmy’s Timeout Sports Pub, 5001 Linden Ave. (at State Road.), from 5 to 8 p.m. Registration is available at huberts.org/shcdalumnaegame ••

Open house at St. Albert Elementary

St. Albert the Great Elementary School, 214 Welsh Road in Huntingdon Valley, will hold an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. from Jan. 28-31.

Holme Circle Civic meeting Wednesday night

The Holme Circle Civic Association will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. at St. Jerome School Hall, Stamford and Colfax Streets. The topic will be Medical Marijuana 101: Informational Session.

The state’s new Medical Marijuana Program provides access to medical marijuana for patients with specific medical conditions. Learn about registration, certification, payment and access. ••

Poetry forum at Holmesburg Library

The first Northeast Poetry Forum will be held at Holmesburg Library, 7810 Frankford Ave., on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The forum is free and open to the public. Poets and songwriters are invited to read their work or listen to others while making connections within the community. All participants are asked to sign in 10 minutes before the forum starts.

Maternity BVM adding to Hall of Honor

Maternity BVM Parish, 9322 Old Bustleton Ave., will be inducting its third Hall of Honor class on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 10:30 a.m. with a communion breakfast in the parish hall. The honorees are U.S. Army Maj. Michael William, Deacon Charles Lindsay and the Maternity BVM Golf Outing Committee.

The breakfast will also include performances from the school’s choir and presentations to the honorees.

Bariatric session at Nazareth Hospital

On Friday, Jan. 25, Nazareth Hospital will host a free bariatric information session for the community to educate patients about weight-loss surgery options and support services. Participants will be able to speak with Nazareth’s bariatric surgeons.

The session will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. in Nazareth’s Administrative Conference Room, 2601 Holme Ave. Registration is required.

The St. Hubert Alumnae Association will sponsor Coach bingo on Sunday, March 31, from 1 to 4 p.m., in the school cafeteria, Torresdale and Cottman avenues.

Dinner benefit at St. Cecilia

St. Cecilia will hold a dinner theater on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the school auditorium, 525 Rhawn St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $35 and include food and drink. It’s a BYOB event.

The evening will include Magic by Ed, Celtic music by No Irish Need Apply and St. Cecilia performers.

Proceeds will go to the St. Cecilia School Scholarship Fund in memory of former teacher Bonnie Gunn.

The snow date is March 2.

Senior learning at KleinLife

KleinLife, 10100 Jamison Ave., will offer a Lifelong Learning series for seniors beginning on Feb. 18.

The public is invited to participate.

The program will offer classes on painting, current events, music, culture and arts, book lovers and tea, movies and theater, literature and science

Additionally, the program will include an excursion to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts on March 26.
