Gardening fair on Saturday
Learn about gardening, flowers and the environment at a fair at Northeast Regional Library, 2228 Cottman Ave., on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m.
There will be appearances by Master Gardeners Penn State, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Tree Northeast, the Insectarium, the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and the Philadelphia Botanical Club. The event is free. No registration is required. ••

NE History meeting Wednesday night
The Northeast Philadelphia History Network will meet on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. at Pennepack Baptist Church, 8732 Krewstown Road.
The topic will be Race Relations: Northeast Philadelphia 1850-2000, chosen to coincide with Black History Month. The speaker will be Matthew Smalarz, a history professor at Manor College. ••
Benefit on Saturday for cystic fibrosis
The 29th annual Harvey Family Benefit for Cystic Fibrosis will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 7:30 p.m. to midnight at the Philadelphia Ballroom, 2014 Hornig Road.
Tickets cost $40 and include a hot buffet, open bar, DJ, raffles, door prizes and an auction.
Proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for research, medications and family financial support.

Learn about diabetes, weight-loss surgery
On Wednesday, Feb. 13, Nazareth Hospital will continue its Dine with the Docs community Q&A series with a discussion about diabetes and weight loss.
At the free event, participants will hear from Dr. Abhiman B. Cheeyandira, bariatric surgeon, and Dr. Jeff Olson, primary care physician at Mercy Primary Care at Holme Avenue. The event will include a complimentary meal. Cheeyandira and Olson will discuss the basics of diabetes management and teach attendees about available bariatric weight-loss procedures.
The event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Nazareth Hospital’s DiBello Conference Room, 2601 Holme Ave.

Deadline Monday to enter children’s contest
The deadline is Monday, Feb. 11, to enter CORA Services’ art and writing contest.
First- through fourth-graders are invited to submit an original piece of Dr. Seuss-themed color artwork, with one to three sentences explaining the work. The winner will receive $50.
Fifth- through eighth-graders are invited to write a poem about themselves using Dr. Seuss rhythm and rhyme. Poems should be a minimum of 25 lines. The winner will receive $100.

Jeep Gladiator highlights Auto Show
The Philadelphia Auto Show continues through Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 11th and Arch streets. The show features the 2020 Jeep Gladiator pickup truck.
