Mayfair home searched in major drug raid

Authorities raided a Mayfair home in an effort to shut down a group that was selling drugs in Kensington.

A Mayfair home was raided Thursday morning as part of a larger sting aimed at shutting down a drug trafficking organization in Kensington, officials said.

Investigators seized $1.7 million worth of heroin and fentanyl, $98,000 in crack cocaine, three handguns and $13,000 in cash while executing search warrants at 13 homes and 15 cars, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.

One of the searches was at a home on the 6200 block of Cardiff Street in Lower Mayfair. Authorities said the criminal organization kept most of its drug packaging paraphernalia at the location.

Officials said 11 people were arrested as part of the sting but did not release their addresses. All were charged with conspiracy, possession with internet to deliver narcotics, corrupt organizations and simple possession, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

The group targeted by investigators was mostly selling drugs on the 3300 block of Argyle Street near Kensington and Allegheny avenues, authorities said.

In addition to the Attorney General’s Office, officers from the FBI, Philadelphia Police Department and other law enforcement agencies participated in the raid. ••
