Learn about early childhood education

Harcum College at Grace Trinity, 5200 Oxford Ave., is recruiting for admission for its associate degree program in Early Childhood Education at an open house on Feb. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Harcum’s ECE degree is recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Classes are held twice a week from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or must have successfully completed a state-approved high school equivalency diploma. Harcum accepts transfer students.

Dinner theater benefit at St. Cecilia

St. Cecilia will hold a dinner theater on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the school auditorium, 525 Rhawn St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $35 and include food and drink. It’s a BYOB event.

The evening will include Magic by Ed, Celtic music by No Irish Need Apply and St. Cecilia performers.

Proceeds will go to the St. Cecilia School Scholarship Fund in memory of former teacher Bonnie Gunn.

The snow date is March 2.

Meeting for corridor improvements

A meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 21, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Exchange at Oxford Circle, 6434 Castor Ave., to discuss corridor improvement designs. Banners and BigBelly trash compactors are planned for Rising Sun, Castor and Bustleton avenues.

Pizza will be served, and child care available.

Ritchie, Reese coming to the Northeast

On Sunday, Feb. 24, from noon to 2 p.m., 94 WIP personalities Jon Ritchie and Ike Reese, both former NFL players, will appear at the new Xfinity store at 4640 Roosevelt Blvd.

The WIP street team, Eagles cheerleaders, Swoop and a doughnut truck will also be on site. ••

Bariatric info session at Nazareth

On Friday, Feb. 22, Nazareth Hospital will host a free bariatric information session for the community to educate patients about weight-loss surgery options and support services.

Participants will be able to speak with Nazareth’s bariatric surgeons. The session will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. in Nazareth’s Administrative Conference Room, 2601 Holme Ave.

Trip to Atlantic City on Sunday

Holy Innocents Parish is organizing a trip to Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sunday, Feb. 24.

A bus will depart L Street and Hunting Park Avenue at 9 a.m. The bus will depart the Tropicana at 4:30 p.m.

The cost is $30. Riders will receive $25 in slot cash.

Upcoming trip to Philadelphia art museum

The Sisterhood of Congregations of Shaare Shamayim, 9768 Verree Road, is sponsoring an upcoming trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the Dior Fashion Exhibit.

The cost is $18, and participants are asked to meet at the synagogue at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Drivers are needed to carpool, with the caravan leaving at 10:30 a.m. To make a reservation, call Lynn Azoulay at 267-904-9516. ••

Holme Circle Civic meeting is Feb. 27

The next Holme Circle Civic Association meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. at St. Jerome School Hall, Colfax and Stamford streets.

A representative from the American Water Resources Water and Sewer Line Protection Program will answer questions about this new pipe-protection plan endorsed by City Council. ••

Bag sale through Friday

Temple Menorah Keneseth Chai’s Classroom Thrift Shop, 4301 Tyson Ave., will hold a bag sale, allowing customers to fill a bag of clothing for $6, through Friday, Feb. 22. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The shop will be closed from Feb. 24 through March 2. It will reopen March 3. Call 215-624-9130. ••
