Merakey Foundation holds annual charity hockey fundraiser

The Merakey Foundation, a behavioral health nonprofit, raised $66,000 from a charity game at the Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia.

The Merakey Foundation hosted its 14th Annual Goals for Giving celebrity hockey benefit on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Flyers Skate Zone, 10990 Decatur Road. The fundraiser has raised more than $725,000 to support the foundation’s programs and services, and this year’s event raised $66,000.

Individuals and fans were given the opportunity to play alongside former NHL players. Among those from the Flyers Alumni team who participated in the charity game were Joe Watson, Brad Marsh, Doug Crossman, Mitch Lamoureux, Andre Faust, Riley Cote and Merakey Foundation board member Brian Propp. The Flyers Alumni beat Team Merakey 4-3.

The Merakey Foundation, formerly known as the Northwest Center and NHS, is a nonprofit provider of community-based behavioral healthcare. Its facilities include the Woodhaven Autism Education Center at 2900 Southampton Road.
