Two people were killed and three firefighters injured during a house fire Friday afternoon in the Far Northeast.
Firefighters responded to the scene on the 3200 block of Birch Road around 4 p.m., according to Fire Department spokeswoman Kathy Matheson. It took fire crews an hour to get the blaze under control, and there were a lot of belongings in the house, Matheson said.
Authorities haven’t released details on the two people who died in the fire.
Fire Commissioner Adam K. Thiel said on Twitter that the three firefighters who were hurt are expected to be OK.
Matheson said the Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The Medical Examiner’s Office is looking into the cause of death for the two people who were killed.
About 60 firefighters, paramedics and other Fire Department personnel responded to the fire. ••
