The Wissinoming Civic Association met Tuesday, March 26, and scheduled its annual Torresdale Avenue cleanup for Saturday, April 6, in conjunction with the citywide spring cleanup day.
Those interested in helping out are asked to gather at 10:30 a.m. at McCafferty-Sweeney Funeral Home, 6128 Torresdale Ave., for distribution of supplies. The plan is for one group to start at Robbins Avenue and another at Harbison Avenue and eventually meet in the middle.
A few residents at the civic association meeting complained about prostitutes and drug dealers on Torresdale Avenue. WCA Vice President Robb Reichard advised neighbors to bring their concerns directly to the 15th Police District at the Police District Advisory Council meetings.
The 15th District PDAC meets the last Monday of the month at the Mayfair Community Center, St. Vincent and Battersby streets.

A representative from state Rep. Joe Hohenstein’s office said Hohenstein will be available to help residents and answer questions Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ice Moon, Cottman and Frankford avenues.
American Paradigm Schools is hosting a “Conversation with the Candidates” series ahead of the May 21 primary. On Thursday, April 4, judicial candidates will be at Memphis Street Academy Charter School, 2950 Memphis St., from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mayoral and invited City Council at-large candidates will be on hand Tuesday, April 9, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Tacony Academy Charter School, 1330 Rhawn St.
The next Wissinoming Civic Association meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at Grace City Church of Wissinoming, 6035 Walker St. ••
