The Block Gives Back on Saturday conducted a Love Thy Park cleanup at Rivera Recreation Center (formerly Mann Recreation Center), 5th Street and Allegheny Avenue.
Volunteers filled a couple dozen bags of trash and built a large wood table with benches.
Mighty Writers distributed free books to children. Turning Points for Children and #NoBreaks also set up tables with information and resources.
The day included music, drinks, water ice, grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, snacks and football.
Other upcoming events include a homeless feeding on June 25, a Father’s Day breakfast on June 15 and another Love Thy Park cleanup on June 29. ••
