Dedicated Senior Medical Center last Friday celebrated its one-year anniversary at 6431 Sackett St., in the Mayfair Shopping Center.
The company also has locations in Florida and Ohio, along with ones in Olney and North and West Philadelphia.
State Rep. Joe Hohenstein visited and was given a tour by Sarah DeConti, a membership growth consultant. She mentioned that the local center has a “welcome area,” not a waiting room. Free transportation is available for patients, who can enjoy healthy snacks and drinks before seeing the doctor.
DeConti also pointed out the medication room and the diabetic shoe selection. Patients can receive acupuncture, see a primary care physician or cardiologist and receive a referral to see specialists. There are SilverSneakers and tai chi classes, and needy people 60 and older can receive food from Philabundance.
The center plans a fun game called “The Price is Right” to outline the cost of healthcare.
Last Friday’s event featured music and a spin the wheel game. Independence Blue Cross and Keystone First VIP Choice set up tables.
