Yasmeen Daraz and other members of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s MD Class of 2020 participated in the second Stanley Conklin Research Day, an event that will be held annually. The purpose of the event is to showcase resident and student research and quality-improvement projects. Daraz, studying at Geisinger’s campus in Bradford County, presented a research poster entitled Implementation of Frailty Screening Tool for Hip Fracture.

Wagner College held its 134th annual commencement program. Devin K. Liggeons graduated with a degree in business administration and a minor in mathematics with a concentration in finance.

More than 700 students earned associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from Alvernia. The following local students earned their degrees: Erica Forston (completed studies at Philadelphia Center cum laude), Kirstin Gonzaga (magna cum laude), Krystina Rosario (completed studies at AU: Online at Alvernia), Alexa Hegarty (Master of Business Administration, completed studies online), Joseph Pucker, Ryan Cassedy (doctor of physical therapy degree) and Amanda Krier (cum laude).

David Tapia graduated with a Bachelor of Science in computer engineering with high honors from Lehigh University.

Nearly 770 Coastal Carolina University students were named to the president’s list for the spring semester. To be named to the president’s list, students must achieve a 4.0 grade point average for the semester. Among those named to the president’s list were James L. Queen, an economics major.

Cedar Crest College celebrated the Class of 2019 at its 149th annual commencement ceremony at the PPL Center in downtown Allentown. Local graduates were Gina Balla and Jennifer Nguyen.

A total of 269 Mansfield University students were named to the dean’s list. To be named to the dean’s list, a student must attend the university full-time and earn at least a 3.5 GPA. Local members of the dean’s list are Brandon DeJesus, Alyssa Denofa and Ryan Watson.

Melanie Lynn Warne graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communications as Susquehanna University closed its 161st academic year with commencement exercises.

Kevin William Charyszyn, a business studies major, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Clarkson University, in Potsdam, New York. Dean’s list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

Moravian College held commencement exercises to conclude its 277th academic year. There were about 500 students earning bachelor degrees, including William Brazukas.

Elizabethtown College named its dean’s list. Students on the dean’s list are full-time undergraduate students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better in 14 or more credit hours, of which at least 12 credits are letter-graded course work. Local members of the list are Megan Elmer (health and occupation major), Jessica Fein (music therapy), Hope McQuoid (psychology) and Kaitlyn Hamilton (English education).
