Calling all young Shakespeare fans: A new Shakespeare-intensive acting course is coming to Mayfair and Holmesburg.
Actors aged 12 through 18 can sign up for Wings of Paper’s acting course, which runs from Sept. 28 to Nov. 24. The course will conclude with a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Philadelphia Insectarium.
“We’ll cover a different piece of acting each week like movement studies, objectives and text analysis,” said Lisa VillaMil, creator and teacher of the program. VillaMil has experience directing students through productions of Romeo and Juliet and The Tempest, and hopes to bring the passion for the bard to a new group.
Rehearsals will take place Sept. 28, Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26 and Nov. 2, 9 and 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mayfair Black Box Theater. Performances will take place Nov. 21, 22, 23 and 24 at 7 p.m. at the Insectarium.
There is room for up to 18 students. The program costs $400. Go to WingsOfPaperTheater.com to sign up or learn more.
