The Mayfair Business Improvement District last week sponsored a pre-game tailgate party at Frankford and Cottman avenues, before the Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers.
The WIP Go Birds podcast was live, with John Barchard and James Seltzer.
Visitors were able to spin the WIP prize wheel and get autographs and pictures with former Eagles receiver Fred Barnett.
NFL Films was on hand to record the festivities, which featured vendors such as Marinucci’s, Grey Lodge Pub, Factory Donuts, Rita’s, Chickie’s & Pete’s, Dunphy Ford, Oteri’s and a scary character from Easter State Penitentiary’s Terror Behind the Walls.
Meanwhile, Dunphy Ford, 7700 Frankford Ave., will be holding a Dallas Cowboys Car Smash on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $5 for three swings of a sledgehammer. The day will also include face painting, free hot dogs and soft drinks, special pricing on all vehicles, a basket auction and a 50/50.
During a similar event in 2014, a forklift dropped the car.
All proceeds will go to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 Survivors Fund and the Franklin Towne Charter High School cheerleaders. ••
