Tribute to Sinatra dinner show
Joey C will perform a Tribute to Sinatra Dinner Show on Thursday, Nov. 14, at La Casa Di Lucia, 14425 Bustleton Ave. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. The show is at 8 p.m.

Open house at local college
Harcum College Northeast will be holding an open house on Wednesdays, Nov. 6 and 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Northeast Learning Center, 7222 Castor Ave.
The center offers two accredited associate degree programs: human services and business management. Its sister site, Oxford Circle Grace Trinity Church, offers early childhood education. Classes are held two nights a week and offer full-time credits.
Visitors to the open house will meet the administrators, complete an application and talk to financial aid representatives. Classes are small, and begin again in January.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or a state-approved high school equivalency diploma. Harcum College also accepts transfer students who have attended other accredited colleges. Financial aid as well as Harcum College community-based grants are available for students who qualify.

Honor Marines and Tony Rad
Showtime Charities will hold a musical tribute to Tony Radwanski and a celebration of the Marine Corps’ 244th birthday on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, 11630 Caroline Road.

Proceeds will benefit the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which was Radwanski’s favorite charity. Radwanski, a former first deputy city controller and popular singer at La Casa Di Lucia, died suddenly in January.

Program for people with diabetes

Council will probe DHS policy
City Council unanimously authorized the creation of a special committee to hold hearings to review child separation in Philadelphia’s child welfare system and develop recommendations to ensure compliance with state child protective services law.
The rate of children removed from their homes in Philadelphia is the highest in the nation, triple the rate of removal in New York and quadruple the rate of removal in Chicago.
“DHS is an important agency with dedicated public servants doing a tough job,” said Councilman David Oh. “The vast majority of the time, the decision-making is sound and we applaud their hard work. However, we must also recognize that the current protocols for protecting children are inadequate and in need of attention. I look forward to this hearing to identify ways we can better serve and protect the children and families of Philadelphia.” ••
Jeanes offering community grants
The Anna T. Jeanes Foundation, which supports Jeanes Hospital, is coordinating its annual Community Grants program.
Grants are awarded to provide funding for projects that promote the health and wellness of communities in the hospital’s service areas. Criteria include a project’s merit and community impact. The grants will range from $500 to $2,500 each.
Applications for the grants are being accepted until Nov. 15. Funds must be used in 2020.
Nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply, and must provide a copy of their tax exemption letter from the IRS and a completed W-9 form.
Organizations applying for grants must be located in one of the following ZIP codes: 19012, 19027, 19111, 19115, 19120, 19149, 19152, 19006, 19046, 19095, 19114, 19116, 19124, 19126, 19135, 19136, and 19154. Projects receiving funding must take place within these ZIP codes.
