Tribute to Sinatra dinner show

Joey C will perform a Tribute to Sinatra Dinner Show on Thursday, Nov. 14, at La Casa Di Lucia, 14425 Bustleton Ave. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. The show is at 8 p.m.

Nature and history walk on Sunday

Friends of Pennypack Park will hold its monthly nature and history walk on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m.

This walk will be at Pennypack on the Delaware, located near State Road and Rhawn Street.

The walk will feature a brief talk on the geologic story of the Atlantic Coastal Plain, river shore beach combing, and birding to spot migratory hawks and waterfowl. The rain date will be Nov. 24.

Learn about dangers of digital age

Do your children spend too much time on their phones? Are your grandkids always on their iPads? Are you tired of Fortnite?

Consider attending a “Parenting in the Age of Technology” presentation by Tom Kersting (tomkersting.com) for information and strategies on how to combat harmful effects of the digital age.

John Birch Society to meet Tuesday

The John Birch Society will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Holmesburg Recreation Center, Rhawn and Ditman streets.

There will be a presentation on Rescuing Our Children – And Our Nation, a look at public schools’ failure to teach Christian values. Refreshments will be served.

The motto of the John Birch Society is “Less Government, More Responsibility and – With God’s Help – A Better World.” ••

Donate to the needy

KleinLife and Ann Kids Educational Center will host a Bliss of Giving Festival at KleinLife, 10100 Jamison Ave., on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

Maria Shamkalian, assistant director of Ann Kids Educational Center, said, “This will be a family-oriented charity event where we are encouraging children to donate new and previously loved clothing, toys, furniture, baby items and educational materials in good condition to be given to other children who are less fortunate.”

Support Holocaust museum

The Holocaust Awareness Museum and Education Center is having its 58th annual silent auction and dinner, honoring U.S. Reps. Brendan Boyle and Brian Fitzpatrick, on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Congregation Adath Jeshurun, 7763 Old York Road, Elkins Park.

Boyle and Fitzpatrick have been advocates of Holocaust education for all young people.

The cost is $95 per individual or $175 per couple.

Paint party at St. Bart’s

St. Bartholomew Parish will host a paint party on Sunday, Nov. 17, in the church hall, 5600 Harbison Ave.

Food fest raises money for cancer research

The Marlyn Chakov Fein Chapter, Fox Chase Cancer Center is running a Taste of Italy at Bella Tori at the Mansion, 321 S. Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The cost is $45 and includes Italian food and entertainment. A cash bar will be available.

Maternity BVM class of ‘84 reunion

Maternity Blessed Virgin Mary Grade School Class of 1984 will hold a 35th reunion on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 7 p.m. to midnight at Maggie’s Waterfront Cafe, 9242 N. Delaware Ave.

Learn about Tacony’s first civic leader

The Historical Society of Tacony will meet on Monday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Tacony Library, Torresdale Avenue and Knorr Street.

The speaker will be Suzin Weber, branch librarian, who will address the audience about the life of M. Louise Thomas, Tacony’s first civic leader who helped get the library built in 1906. Weber and historical society secretary Charles McCloskey are working on a state historical marker to be placed at the library. ••
