Philabundance looking for volunteers

Philabundance is looking for volunteers as it continues its mission to drive hunger from communities in 2020.

The organization that serves 90,000 people each week is looking for volunteers to help sort and pack over 3 million pounds of food it received from holiday food drives. Hunger heroes can lend a hand by volunteering as a donation delivery driver, becoming a restaurant or retail partner, or more.

It is also looking for volunteers to help out at its food pantries, emergency kitchens, produce distributions and other hunger relief programs across the nine counties that it serves in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The organization also plans to expand its Philabundance Community Kitchen program that provides free culinary and life skills training. The program will move to a new 18,800-square-foot facility this summer to enhance its community impact.

Since the program began in 2000, the 14-week program has served about 5 million meals to Philadelphians in need and helped more than 900 graduates enter the workforce.
