Hair Perfection, a classic full-service barber shop on Castor Avenue in Rhawnhurst, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Brothers Joe and John Innamorato, who were born in Carife, a town in Southern Italy, opened the shop at 7969 Castor Ave. on Jan. 22, 1980. They still come in every morning bright and early, accompanied by Paul Cuni and, sometimes, John’s wife, Libby.

“It’s just a fun job,” John said. “We love the people. We have a good following.”

Hair Perfection’s walls are decorated with personal items and souvenirs collected from various trips the barbers have taken over the years. The shop normally has a steady flow of traffic throughout the day and many longtime customers.

“The secret is to try to be nice to the people, (and) the people come back,” said Joe, who started as a barber 58 years ago in Italy.

Joe and John thanked customers for Hair Perfection’s four decades in business. ••
