Friends of Pennypack gearing up for March cleanup

Father Judge’s green team helped in a recent cleanup by Friends of Pennypack Park.

Friends of Pennypack Park will begin its 2020 cleanups on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the hidden ballfield on Holme Avenue, between the bridge over Pennypack Creek and Nazareth Hospital’s property.

To volunteer, call 215-934-PARK or email [email protected].

In 2019, there were nine cleanups, and volunteers filled 490 bags with trash, along with hauling away mattresses, shopping carts, tires and cans. Assistance was provided by city Department of Parks and Recreation’s Jim Hunsburger and Gerald McFeeley.

The following volunteers participated in four or more cleanups: Barbara Andress, Linda Davies, Ed Davis, Joyce Ferrero, Frank Gallagher, Rich Glaser, Karen Kaczorek, Alan Kaminsky, Nance Kerns, Mike Kinkaid, Dean Lynd, Robert McMunn, Terri McNamara (pastor of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ), Andrew Puzdrak, Gerald Schlechter, George Scholl, Ralph Smith, Kevin Sweetra, Will Toffling, Jason Trenchard, Audrey Walmsley and Roland Williams. ••
