Megan Frain

Megan Frain, a graduate of Maternity BVM and 2017 graduate of Nazareth Academy High School, was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Frain was initiated at the University of Tampa. She is majoring in history, with a minor in education, and will graduate in December. She plans to apply to law school. Membership to Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation. Only the top 10 percent of seniors are eligible.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Weikel congratulate their granddaughters, Clare and Monica, for making the dean’s list at Rider and Thomas Jefferson universities, respectively.

University of South Carolina Beaufort announced that Lilli Resto has been named a fall 2019 chancellor’s list honoree. To be eligible for the chancellor’s list, students must obtain a term grade point average of 3.50 or higher earned on a minimum of 12 credited semester hours.

Kutztown freshman Casey Remolde earned the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division Defensive Athlete of the Year. Remolde was also voted to the East Second Team. She tied for the PSAC lead with 2.2 blocks per game and was 15th with 47 steals. She was also 18th in the PSAC in free-throw percentage (74%) and averaged 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. She is also a member of the dean’s list.

Albright College awards Presidential Scholarships, in the amount of $15,000 per year, to high school seniors with outstanding academic records. Local scholarship winners include

Cameron Prunier (Cristo Rey), Laila Delacruz (Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush), Woodkensia Charles (Philadelphia High School For Girls), Paige Mueller (Archbishop Wood), Emilia Pater (Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush), Daniella Malinsky (MaST Community Charter School), Doha Ibrahim (Abraham Lincoln), Delilah Rivera (First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School), Micah Balobalo (Swenson Arts and Technology), Ina Ahmeti (Franklin Towne Charter), Kayla Lark (Central), Joniyah McKinney (Neumann-Goretti), Linda Zheng (Abraham Lincoln), Daniela Leiva-Morales (Tacony Academy Charter), Daniel Johnston (Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush).

Alexis Morace is a member of the women’s swimming team at Lebanon Valley College. Morace, a graduate of Villa Joseph Marie, is majoring in exercise science.

Meghan Forsythe, a St. Hubert graduate and member of the Kutztown University track and field team, earned All-Region recognition in the 400 meters after winning the event at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships.

Slippery Rock University’s Michaela Sykes made the dean’s list for the fall 2019 semester. The dean’s list consists of undergraduate students who earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, based on a schedule of at least 12 newly attempted and earned credits.
