Current and former neighbors and others wanted Rhawnhurst’s Milton Johnson to have a memorable 90th birthday, despite the social distancing that has come with the coronavirus pandemic.
Johnson’s acquaintances gathered on Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of the Wawa at Castor and Solly avenues, then took the short drive up Emerson Street.
Johnson, whose birthday was on Monday, stood on his porch as drivers honked horns, held signs and waved American flags in honor of the U.S. Army veteran. They delivered a cake and balloons, dropped off cards and gifts and sang Happy Birthday. ••
