The nonprofit Leaders of Tomorrow, in partnership with state Rep. Jared Solomon (D-202nd dist.), on Friday afternoon delivered care packages to families in Northeast and North Philadelphia.
The care packages consisted of bread, eggs, rice, macaroni and cheese, canned fruit, canned vegetables, bananas, board games, masks, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, a gallon of water and cereal.
Juan Adames and Willxi Alvarez, the teenage founders of Leaders of Tomorrow, decided to act about two weeks ago when they saw a struggling father playing the violin for money in the Walmart parking lot to feed his two younger daughters.
Adams and Alvarez got his name and address so they could deliver a box to him.
Leaders of Tomorrow managers Shane Holland, Arianna Cabrera and Zach Anderson also took part in Friday’s effort.
All five people who participated in the care package deliveries are 17 years old. ••
