O’Neill happy with no property tax hike

Councilman Brian O’Neill is pleased that the proposed 4% property tax increase has been withdrawn from Mayor Kenney’s revised budget proposal.

The new state budget provides the $49 million needed to close the school district funding gap, which this proposed real estate tax increase was intended to cover.

“I have never voted for a real estate tax increase”, O’Neill said, “I’m glad I won’t have to vote against another one this year. In the midst of a global pandemic, local government should be helping people get back on their feet, not raising their taxes.”

O’Neill plans to work with Kenney and the state legislature to advance Philadelphia’s progress along the road to recovery.

To contact O’Neill and his staff, call 215-686-3422, email brian.oneill@phila.gov or visit Facebook or Twitter. ••
