Seniors at New Foundations Charter High School may not have had the opportunity to have a traditional graduation ceremony, but that didn’t stop them from donning their caps and gowns.

On Friday parents of the school organized a car parade for students to celebrate their accomplishment before their virtual graduation ceremony later that evening.

A procession of cars cheered on by families and friends started at Rhawn Street and State Road, following a path that took them along Torresdale Avenue, Ashburner Street and State Road before turning back onto Rhawn.

“We want our children to have memories of their high school graduation,” said Jen Fischer, parent and parade organizer.

“The pandemic may have taken the end of the school year and prom, but it won’t take their memories,” she said. ••
