Hundreds cheer Santa Sleigh Ride

The fourth annual Santa Sleigh Ride took place on Saturday, with hundreds of residents of the 8th Police District greeting Santa and Mrs. Claus and elves.

An 8th district police car led the way as the guests of honor stood on the back of flatbed trucks provided by Teamsters Local 107 and Azalea Gardens Landscaping.

A DJ played Here Comes Santa Claus, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and other Christmas songs.

The elves threw candy canes and Oreo chocolate bars, courtesy of Frankford Candy.

Many residents anticipated the caravan, organized in large part by the Del Ricci family, by following the 8th Police District Advisory Council Facebook page.

The hours-long trek started at the 8th district and passed through neighborhoods such as Torresdale, Holme Circle, Pennypack Woods, Holmesburg, Morrell Park and Parkwood. ••
